Break News: Unlock iPhone 6s and 6S Plus available from Apple now

If you want an iPhone 6S or 6s Plus completely free of carrier association, now's your time. Previously, both new models were available only on contract, or with carrier financing.

Prices for an unlocked iPhone 6s start at $649 (16 GB model), while an unlocked iPhone 6s Plus can be purchased for as low as $749 (16 GB). If you're ordering an unlocked iPhone 6s or 6s Plus right now, regardless of color and internal memory, Apple says it can ship it in 2-3 weeks.

The unlocked iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are offered by Apple with no nano-SIM card inside, so you'll have to get one yourself. The unlocked handsets can be used on your carrier of choice - Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or others.

October 9th also marks the date that the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus go on sale in several new countries, mostly in Europe. Customers in Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Greenland, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, the Isle of Man, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Maldives, Mexico, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Taiwan will all be able to buy the phones today.
