iPhone5s HD Tear Down

The outer skin of iPhone 5s has three colors: silver, golden and space grey. It is allocated with A7 Chip, Touch ID, iSight camera with 8 million pixel sensor and IOS 7.

iPhone 5s is used Apple’s own unique Pentalobular screw, using common screw driver cannot dissemble. It needs Apple’s special tools.

After dissemble the screws, use sucker to spare apart the screen and back cover so that we can check the inside components.

Pay special attention to the disassemble: be careful to taking the screen apart from engine body because the iPhone 5s’ interior has a cable which is connected Lighting connector with Touch ID, or will pull out by overexertion.

The Touch ID is connected with the Home Button by wire cable. While, other parts inside iPhone 5s are not different from the iPhone 5, the only difference is that the battery of iPhone 5s is not acquired label with battery detachable tags.

Begin to tear down components. The battery is stick firmly on backboard by two big super glues and very difficult to take apart. This is the reason why Apple removes the tag of battery dis-assembly. Maybe the “s” in iPhone 5s means “stuck”.

Next step is screw out the shield case on the internal main board of iPhone 5s. This step helps us to take battery module easily from iPhone 5s.

Now remove iPhone 5s’Retina screen. It has 326 ppi pixel densities. There is no difference between iPhone 5s and iPhone 5’s screen.

Touch ID is consisted of a bunch of small capacitors, which called CMOS chip. As time goes by, the sensitive of Touch ID will be reduced by using frequency.

iSight camera’s sticker is tagged with DNL333 41GRF 4W61W, which is similar with iPhone 4’s camera. According to informed source, we can see that the camera supplier is Sony.

The logic main board’s model specification tag is very small. To know the specification, you should be assisted by microscope and chip instruction. Some components have specification on them.

The Wi-Fi chip looks like Murata's 339S0205 (based on Broadcom's BCM4334). We have disassembled 16G and 64G versions of iPhone 5s main board and finds out has little differences. Maybe their main-boards are from different manufacturers.

The storage chip is supplied from SK, the model is H2JTDG8UD3MBR. PM8018 RF – RF Power Management Chip is from QUALCOMM. Other chips originate from Texas Instruments, Broadcom, Triquint, and Skyworks and so on.

But most of them are from Skyworks and Avago.

On the other side of logic main board, it shows us heavyweight chip components, includes A7 Processor and Baseband Processor from QUALCOMM, etc.

The closed-up photo of A7 ProcessorThis is Apple's brand new 64 mobile Processor. It is only applied on iPhone 5s and its capacity is twice as A6. Nevertheless, the structure of A7 Processor still is ARMv7, not special design  for ARMv8 64 Processor).
